Challenge
After a year filled with challenges and success and an aggressive new goal for the upcoming year, this major utility needed a more effective Sales and Marketing Kickoff Event. Without having the same type of meeting as in previous years (or like the oh-so-similar quarterly meetings), the objectives were clearly laid out: congratulate the staff for a job well done in this past year, hand out awards, review recent success stories, provide key information about new resources, introduce the goal for the new year, and motivate the sales and marketing staff to achieve it.

Solution
Instead of a long day of speeches and slide presentations, with no way for the staff to actively participate, we took a completely different approach.

In less than two months, we worked with the Client to develop, script and produce a TV show that entertained, informed and facilitated all that needed to be accomplished and communicated. This was followed by a broadcast quality game show in which the staff starred as the contestants, playing for points and prizes.

Meeting Program
The GOOD DAY KEYSPAN show featured a complete studio set, just like today's popular network morning magazine formats, with a living room setting, news desk, studio lighting and sound system, and four TV cameras. Instead of TV monitors, a giant screen displayed the "hot" camera, as well as commercials and a live feed of the CEO's comments from their New York headquarters. Special guest interviews and newsbreaks were used to communicate the content needed for the meeting. An awards program and entertaining features made it a complete and memorable experience.

Game Show Program - After a short break, the staff returned to the venue to find it transformed into the studio for KEYSPAN's $25 Million Challenge (the new goal), a broadcast quality game show production by our xQuizit Game Shows division, with Rick Cram as the host and the KeySpan staff as the contestants. Half of the questions and answers were based on KEYSPAN's products and services. The game show was formatted with two teams playing at a time, with a combination of trivia and survey Feud-style questions.

Result
"Rick, it was fantastic. We had a great time. I think it was the best, it was absolutely the best sales meeting we ever had. Everyone left informed and enthusiastic, and we had a great time and a lot of fun. I can't thank you enough. We couldn't have done it without you."
- Nick Stavropoulos, President, KEYSPAN New England
